Cell Phone Guidelines

Personal Device Policy

At Lac du Bonnet Senior School, we want to teach and promote appropriate digital usage and citizenship.  Personal devices can be a temptation and distraction that disrupts learning and negatively impacts mental health.  Therefore, Lac du Bonnet Senior School has the following expectations with respect to devices:

  • For students in grades 9-12, devices will be permitted during lunch and breaks.
  • Personal device use is not permitted from arrival to dismissal for students in grades 7 and 8.
  • Students will place their cell phones and mobile devices in the classroom storage provided, in their locked lockers, or in backpacks stored at the front of the classroom.
  • Devices may be used when required for health or medical purposes if arrangements are made in advance.
  • Devices may be used to support students with exceptional needs when deemed appropriate by the teacher or principal.
  • Taking pictures or video without permission is strictly prohibited and may result in suspension and/or the removal from courses.

Students not following these guidelines will have their device confiscated and turned into the office where the device must be retrieved by a parent.  Further instances may result in all cell phone privileges being revoked which requires all devices remain off school property or the student will be sent home for the day.  Parents are expected to ensure this policy is followed to support their child’s academic and social learning.
